About Me
I started sewing at the age of 9 with my Mom and I started quilting in 1997. I began sewing because my Mom did it, and she enjoyed it and I thought it might be fun. Later, I started quilting because I bought a new machine and the dealer had a beginning quilting class that looked interesting and I always thought quilting would be fun.
I grew up in Evergreen Park and attended EPHS where I took every sewing class they had. I received a BS in Home Economics Education and an MEd in Home Economics from the University of Illinois. I taught Home Economics for 25 years teaching most areas of Home Economics.
When I started quilting I did only tablerunners, baby and lap sized quilts. Now I make quilts of all sizes. I like doing a variety of styles but my favorite type of fabric is batiks. T-shirts quilts are my favorite.
Lots of different quilters have influenced my quilting style and fabric choices at one time or another. My quilting bucket list includes doing a Judy Niemeyer and finishing all the projects I have all the materials for at this time. My favorite finished project is the quilt I made for my mother's 80th brithday. It has pictures from my mothers life on it.
I teach t-shirt quilt classes, bag classes, accessories classes and some other quilts classes. My favorite part of teaching at QQ is the great people I get to work with and teach. It is always fun.
My other hobbies and interests include golfing, gardening, and reading. I have two beautiful quilting cats. They like to help whenever they can but especially like piecing and embroidery.
