About Me
I learned to sew at the Chicago Park District when I was 10 years old and have been sewing ever since. I’ve made many wedding dresses, prom dresses, veils, and most of my professional clothing while teaching for the past 39 years.
I have been quilting for over 30 years and just realized I started quilting before rulers and templates were created! I have proof. While going through my stash, I just found a triangle template for a quilt, made out of interfacing and cut with scissors! I guess that makes me part of history.
My career has been eclectic. I owned and operated an embroidery business for 15 years in Central Illinois. I taught technology classes for grade school, high school, and community college students for 39 years. Because I am an entrepreneur, when I retired from teaching in May of 2022, I started my encore career as the owner of Seamless Getaways, a quilting retreat in Forrest, IL. This retreat home represents my love for sewing, scrapbooking, and any type of crafting. It is a place for friends to share their hobby, friendship, and support.
Being a teacher at heart, in June of 2022 I became a Certified Laura Heine instructor. I’ve been collecting her patterns for years. I LOVE the creativity this collage quilting offers! Every design will be different because the purpose of creating this quilt is to create using fabric that represents YOU, what you love, what makes you happy. My philosophy is “If you love the fabric, buy it!” You will look at fabric a whole new way! Laura Heine’s patterns are fabulous. Join me in a class to experience this creative quilting technique.
