OESD School of Embroidery

Each embroidery lesson will focus on different machine embroidery techniques, stabilizers, embroidery placement and design collections. Any brand of embroidery machine is welcome.

The class will begin with a lecture and demonstration covering the technique of the month.
The second part of the class will be a hands-on learning experience for you to put your new knowledge to work.

September - Embroidery on Velvet
Velvet is a luxurious fabric, but it can create problems for those trying to machine embroider on it. Velvet is stretchy and very easy to damage. Machine embroidery is particularly sensitive on velvet because the pile affects how the embroidery design will appear when the project is completed. With a few tips from Ann, you can get great results when you embroider on velvet. You'll make this great eyeglass case in order to perfect your skills.

October - Edge to Edge Quilting
This placemat project will teach you the very popular quilting technique of all over, or edge-to-edge quilting with your embroidery machine. The principles are the same for a placemat as for a quilt. This is a fun project that teaches the different aspects of the technique in a simple achievable format. It is also a great way to audition quilting designs before you tackle that bed size quilt!
