During the January class, we’ll begin by reviewing the basics of the Quilt Worktable. We’ll design a strip quilt using the many strip options and create a one-patch quilt. We’ll practice using the tools for setting and manipulating the blocks in a custom layout and change the quilt grid settings to make snapping and sizing irregular blocks easier. Then we’ll explore the different layouts in the library and save an original layout to a custom library.

In February, we’ll focus on the Block Worktable and use Easy Draw to design a foundation pieced block after importing an image to trace. Then we’ll create a block that combines piecing and applique and explore the brush stroke, swath, and wreathmaker tools. We’ll end by experimenting with drawing stencils for quilting patterns.

In March, we’ll review how to import your own fabrics either from a downloaded image, a photo, or a scanned image. We’ll design a quilt that uses a panel or a large scale print as a focal point. We’ll create a medallion or Round Robin quilt by exploring the many border options as well as the auto borders tool.

During the April class, we’ll be working on the Image Worktable to explore the many photo editing tools available. We’ll look at color editing, histogram tools, as well as special effects to add to your images. We’ll create a custom quilt label that can be printed onto fabric and sewn onto a quilt. We’ll upload some embroidery designs to your custom library to learn how to use them on layer 3 of the quilt worktable.
