About Me

I began sewing in 1973. A leaf quilt on the cover of Quiltmaker magazine inspired me to try quilting in 1994. When I first begin quilting, I made a lot of seasonal wall hangings. I especially liked designs by Debbie Mumm. I also loved the scrappy quilts by Judy Martin.

Now I design my own quilts and patterns, and I'm beginning to feel a slight pull towards a more modern look. My favorite quilts to make are scrappy quilts with lots of small pieces. My favorite quilt that I've made so far is Minnesota Nights. Someday, I'd like to make a wholecloth quilt.

I love teaching classes at QQ because it's a great excuse to come to the store. I love meeting the students and hearing the stories they share. Teaching gives me a better feel for how to explain things when I write patterns. I usually teach classes on the quilts I have designed and technique classes.

I'm a member of the Prairie Star guild and of 2 bees that meet monthly. Other than sewing, I enjoy hiking, reading and accounting. I like to search out a quilt shop or two when I travel. I grew up in Lombard. I studied French and Finance/Accounting in college. I'm the mother of 3 wonderful boys.
